Be a Smart User of Your Computers

In the ever- growing, ever- altering world of digital expertise and technologies, it often compensates you when taking stock of items. On a breezy day in Boston, I prepare to take stock of those things that may aid us in familiarizing ourselves. Many of you who are reading this may be conversant with computers and the Web for over a decade or so, but it may seem bizarre when some basics need to be repeated for us to be sharp and smart users of computers, gadgets and the World Wide Web. Let us look at a few tips that might help us all.

Computers require continuous security: Your PC when connected to the Web is prone to virus threats or phishing attacks that may lead to your identity being stolen or your entire data being crashed. Never think twice when spending on any effective anti-virus software and it is imperative that you learn the essential steps required to update it. It is always advisable to keep all your files backed up in case of any awkward incidents. You can either save your files in a USB drive or use any of the many Websites that offer free storage which can be easily Googled. Earlier, I used to send documents and files to my own Email address as a crude form of back up.

Log off and shut down your computer properly: You need to ensure that you log off from Websites as it should be. There is always a possibility that a site can hang or can get crashed any time. In such cases, Log in again and log off, just to make certain that there is no chaos at a later stage. This is very important while using any public computers.

Keep an eye on those downloads: Let a PC technician check your computer once in awhile. Ask him whether your computer is working optimally or if any Add-ons are consuming the processing capacity. Tool bars or certain applications are cool but make sure that those downloads are not overcooked. Even if you are downloading anything make sure you do that only from safe and secure sites.

Search and visit websites at random: Don't end up visiting those websites you frequent every day. Instead, search and visit for any new websites or applications that may suit your need and discover some cool stuffs.

Lastly, I would also like to mention that it is always advisable not to spend too much time on the PC, Laptop or your Smartphone. There is a life outside this digital world. Realize that.
