Social networking has become a favourite pastime of the younger generations as people find more and more ways to stay in touch and connected online. The growth in popularity of these sites has much to do with the constant advance of technology that ensures people have the opportunity to make use of these sites in ever more convenient and simple ways.

The increasing sophistication of the social networking sites themselves has of course had an impact on the growth of networking pick-up. As users found the experiences becoming faster and slicker, the popularity of the best performing sites quickly spread. The advent of the mobile internet was another large evolutionary step for networking sites, as it allowed people to access their profiles on the move and connect with their entire friend base with a single post to their status.
