Mobile Social Networking - A Two-Way Partnership

Social networking has become a favourite pastime of the younger generations as people find more and more ways to stay in touch and connected online. The growth in popularity of these sites has much to do with the constant advance of technology that ensures people have the opportunity to make use of these sites in ever more convenient and simple ways.

The increasing sophistication of the social networking sites themselves has of course had an impact on the growth of networking pick-up. As users found the experiences becoming faster and slicker, the popularity of the best performing sites quickly spread. The advent of the mobile internet was another large evolutionary step for networking sites, as it allowed people to access their profiles on the move and connect with their entire friend base with a single post to their status. This relatively new development encouraged many people who hadn't previously considered the benefits of social networking to think again.

Another way in which mobile phones have contributed to the social networking scene in the last few years is through the rise of photos and media content on sites. While digital cameras have been around for quite a while now, and are of course a convenient way for people to take snaps and upload them to the internet, the growth of sophisticated camera functions on mobile phones has had quite an impact on the number of people taking photos and sharing them with their friends.

Of course, it's the sheer convenience of camera applications on mobile phones that makes them so popular. While many people may forget to take a camera on nights out or special occasions, few people venture out without their mobile phones these days. This means that many photo opportunities that would previously been missed are increasingly captured on camera and are then shared through the use of social networking sites.

Many sites have recognised this trend and have made it easy for people to also upload their photos from their mobile devices. Not all mobile phones boast this function, for example only handsets with an internet connection will be able to upload photos to sites such as Facebook or Flickr remotely. However, all phones with a camera will offer fast and easy ways to download photos onto PCs from which they can be uploaded to networking sites with the minimum of fuss.

Now many mobile manufacturers are including features that are specifically designed to cater to social networking fans, for example some handsets come preloaded with software that makes it easy to connect to these sites speedily while others have included full qwerty keyboards to make it easier for users to write and upload long messages.
